What Happens During a Training Session?
Every session is structured to maximize improvement while keeping players engaged and motivated. A typical one-hour session includes:
Warm-Up & Ball Familiarization
Players prepare their bodies, improve coordination, and begin developing comfort with the basketball.
Skill Development
Focused work on specific skills based on the player's goals, such as ball handling, shooting mechanics, footwork, or passing.

Program Information
Age Range
We work primarily with players ages 6–12, with a focus on strong fundamentals and confidence. Older players may be considered depending on experience and goals.
Skill Level
All skill levels are welcome — beginners learning the basics, developing players improving fundamentals, and experienced players sharpening specific skills.
Location
Sessions take place at basketball courts throughout San Francisco. The exact location is confirmed after a training request is submitted.

Beyond the Bay Basketball was created by two passionate student-athletes who understand the importance of good coaching.
After years of competitive basketball experience, we wanted to help younger players develop their skills while creating the same positive experiences that helped us grow as athletes.
Our goal is simple: Help every player improve, gain confidence, and enjoy basketball.
Rohan Rao
Co-Founder & CoachRohan has played competitive basketball since fourth grade and currently competes with Bay City AAU, one of San Francisco's top travel basketball programs.
Through years of competition against strong teams throughout California, Rohan has developed a deep understanding of basketball fundamentals, teamwork, and player development.
His dedication and commitment to improvement have earned him three MVP awards.
As a coach, Rohan focuses on helping players build confidence through personalized instruction, encouragement, and strong fundamentals.
Leonardo
Co-Founder & CoachLeonardo has been passionate about basketball since fourth grade and has competed through school and competitive programs.
His leadership and commitment to his teammates earned him a Leadership Award, recognizing his ability to motivate others and contribute positively to his team.
As a coach, Leonardo enjoys creating a supportive environment where players feel comfortable learning, improving, and challenging themselves.

Yes. We offer small-group training sessions for 2–4 players. Group training is a great option for:

We provide necessary training equipment.
Parents are welcome to stay and observe sessions. We encourage parents to be involved and supportive while allowing players to focus and learn.
Training frequency depends on the player's goals. Some players train weekly for consistent improvement, while others schedule sessions based on availability.
We are happy to discuss what option makes the most sense for your child.
Families begin by submitting the Check Availability form. After reviewing the request, we will contact you to discuss:

- Preferred schedule
- Location
We will then confirm a session time.
Payment is collected after each training session. The website does not process payments. There are no subscriptions or required long-term commitments.
If weather conditions make training unsafe, the session may be rescheduled or cancelled. Families will be notified as soon as possible.
If a player cannot attend a scheduled session, please provide as much notice as possible. This allows us to adjust scheduling and provide the best experience for all families.
